 A Miscellany 3.

painted lady 3.jpg (28855 bytes) geranium seedling.jpg (30147 bytes) alice 1.jpg (28075 bytes)

 (L) Geranium pratense "Splish Splash" (syn." Painted Lady"), has white flowers that can be slightly flecked with blue right through to this example. (C) A chance geranium seedling. (R) If it gets past the slugs in spring, the double delphinium "Alice Artindale" is a choice plant to have.

leeswood 1.jpg (32496 bytes) veronica.jpg (51529 bytes) pink eve prim.jpg (60895 bytes)

 (L) One of my favourite plants for edging. The double, pink, Helianthemum, "Rose of Leeswood". (C) The prostrate veronica "Mrs. Holt" provides a vivid splash of blue in the rose beds... to be followed (R) by a rampant, pink, evening primrose.

aquilegia 1.jpg (37313 bytes) lilies.jpg (33357 bytes)

(L) Self seeding Aquilegias have given rise to some very pleasing new strains. (R) Lilium regale has an overpowering scent. Its pollen should carry a warning as it is impossible to remove the stains from ones clothing.

 clematis.jpg (43593 bytes) correvon.jpg (27488 bytes)

Raised in 1899, Clematis "Julia Correvon" provides a good contrast if it flowers at the same time as the roses and much needed colour when the roses have finished their season.
