Here are the results for JuneJunePathetic Plot 1 Significantly better, Plot 2 Very good, Plot 3 Outstanding, Plot 4 Several crops were re-sown this month following pigeon predation. They were; peas, cauliflowers, cabbages and Brussels sprouts.
OOPS!June was notable for its lack of rain and oppressive heat. Throughout the whole of the month, it rained on only one occasion. The rain, though much needed and welcome, ruined a pre-arranged bat spotting evening and brought slugs and snails out in droves. You will see damage to each of the plots to some degree. Lack of vigilance on my part is to blame for that. Several crops like the onions and carrots that had been planted almost to the edge of the plots decided to wilt in the heat and bent over to form a bridge which our friends happily crossed. Thankfully I was able to repair the damage and any snails on the plots have been dealt with. I only wish I could say the same about the pigeons, who continue to decimate the plots. As usual, plot 4 continues to upstage all the others but plots 1 and 2 have now caught up from their slow start.
